Object and Scope of geology may be defined as that branch of applied sciences which deals with the application of geology for a safe, stable and economic design and construction of a civil engineering project. The basic objects of engineering geology are two-fold.
It enables a civil engineer to understand the engineering implications of a certain condition related to the area of construction, which are essentially geological in nature.
